Kathleen "Kathy" Hammond, 54, of Springfield, has served as the treasurer of the Springfield Youth Club (SYC) since 2018, but was terminated amid the accusations, the county's District Attorney said.

Hammond used the money on an "array of personal expenses," including vacations, concerts, and tickets to Eagles games, DA Jack Stollsteimer said.

Hammond admitted to the thefts when SYC confronted her about missing funds from the various accounts she managed, according to an affidavit obtained by Daily Voice.

SYC officials identified several unauthorized transactions including a Billy Joel concert ticket from December 2022, a Frontier Airlines ticket from January 2023, Eagles seasons tickets, and more, police paperwork says.

Hammond posted pictures of herself vacationing at a Florida resort around the time the plane ticket was purchased, sold some of the Eagles seasons tickets on social media, and allowed her husband and sons to attend some of the games, the affidavit shows.

The Eagles tickets were intended for Hammond's husband and sons, as she herself never attended a game, according to police papers.

The accounts Hammond is accused of stealing from are for the snack stand and fundraising for SYC — not personal purposes, police paperwork said.

In an interview at her home, Hammond admitted to the thefts, and said she'd borrowed several thousands dollars from friends in an attempt to return some of the stolen funds, the affidavit says.

Hammond is facing various charges of theft.
